Last week, more than two million public service workers – hundreds of thousands of them UNISON members – made history as they showed that they will not take an unjustified attack on their pensions lying down.

Nurses, social workers, teaching assistants, bin men, dinner ladies among many other vital public service workers, joined one of thousands of rallies, picket lines, demos and events taking place from the Shetland Isles to Southampton.

And now after the strike, we get down to more negotiations. We have said from the start that we want to reach a negotiated settlement – and that has not changed.

But it takes two - we needed ministers to talk to us seriously and the strike showed we meant business.

This week there are local government talks, and at the end of last week we had more health talks. We will be doing all we can to protect your pensions and reach a fair deal in these talks.

We still need your help to spread the message about how unfair and unnecessary these attacks on pensions are to public sector workers and their families.

Tell your neighbour, your friend, write to your MP – use the campaign tools on our website: www.unison.org.uk/pensions/takeaction.asp
